Power pylons blown up in Haripur

Two high intensity explosions occurred on the 500KV transmission line near Kalabhat town on Wednesday, damaging main towers and disrupting electricity supply in several regions of Peshawar. According to police officials, unidentified militants planted three bombs on the main supply line from Tarbela Dam to Peshawar’s Sheikh Mohammadi Grid station at Khudrai Wand, located in Haripur district.
Luckily, one of the bombs did not explode, saving the transmission line from complete destruction. The unexploded bomb was later defused. Moreover, no loss of life was reported. Experts informed that all three bombs, commonly known as improvise explosive devices (IEDs), were made locally. Police officials further said the militants had planned to blow up the main transmission line and to thereby block power supply to Peshawar.
The district police had designated police force personnel to protect the transmission line.
However, the incident happened during the night, a time when patrolling the transmission line gets difficult.
