Lower Sindh goes on strike against Altaf’s

statemenA complete shutter down strike was observed in many parts of lower Sindh on Friday against MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s controversial statement against Sindhis.
On the strike call given by the Awami Tehreek, complete shutter down was observed in Mirpurkhas, Jhuddo, Digri, Kot Ghulam Muhammad, Mithi, Diplo, Chachro, Nagarparkar, Sanghar, Tando Adam, Sinjhoro, Jhole, Shehdadpur, Badin, Thatha, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Jan Muhammad, Tnado Allihyar, Jamshoro and other areas of lower Sindh. The traffic flow on the highways linking Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Karachi and other destinations remained suspended. Almost all the CNG stations and filling stations also remained closed for the entire day on Friday. The Awami Tehreek and its women’s wing Sindhiyani Tehreek arranged several protest rallies and protest demonstration in different areas. The leading protest rally was taken out from Station Chowk to Mirpurkhas Press Club led by Zorawar Jarwar Advocate.
Despite hot weather and with people fasting, hundreds of Awami Tehreek workers staged a sit-in demonstration and blocked the Mirpurkhas-Hyderabad Road for two hours. Zorawar Jarwar Advocate, Sajida Chandio, Iqbal Rind Advocate, Dr Razza Leghari, Ghaffar Narejo Advocate and others strongly condemned the statement of Altaf Hussain against Sindhis. They said Altaf Hussain and his party MQM were the enemies of Pakistan and Sindhis. They called MQM an international terror network. They demanded the government should ensure arrests of Altaf Hussain and his murderous associates through Interpol and put them on trial. Other demonstrations and protest rallies were held in Digri, Jhuddo, Khipro, Samaro, Umerkot and other towns of lower Sindh.
