Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) is not trying to dismantle the Punjab government, PML-Q parliamentary party leader in Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din said on Thursday.
Talking to his party’s legislators at the Punjab Assembly, Zaheer said he wanted Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif to complete five years of rule as the public would then have an opportunity to judge his dismal performance. He said everyone was aware of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) future, which meant that there was no point in trying to destabilise the Punjab government.
“If allowed to complete their stipulated term, people would themselves reject the Sharif brothers,” he said. The PML-Q’s leader said PML-N would soon become a regional party as ill-conceived policies have ended its support. Zaheer said politically conscious people would no longer be deceived by Nawaz’s attractive but hollow slogans. He slammed the chief minister for his vindictive policies towards the party’s leadership.
Zaheer said Moonis Elahi was innocent and charges against him could not be proved. He said the CM had nothing to do with problems of the common man as he was only interested in perpetuating his rule. He criticised the Punjab government for its failure to provide food items on subsidised rates. “Sasta Ramadan Bazars are a fraud and only favourites are accommodated through the Ramadan scheme,” he said.
