Timber mafia active in chopping capital’s trees

Timber mafia is busy in chopping down trees in various localities of the federal capital and surrounding areas, while the Forest Department plays the role of a silent spectator. The situation is badly destroying the beauty and serenity of the federal capital. Expressing grave concerns over tree chopping, residents said trees were precious asset of the country, but unfortunately, the timber mafia was fully active in chopping trees on Margalla hills, woods that existed in G-7, F-7, G-6, F-6, Murree, Shahdara, as well as trees around lake view park and Shaker Parian, but no action was being taken against them on part of the Forest Department. The residents expressed grave concerns over the removal of trees from the city. Noted poet Shaker Ahmad said the woods were considered essential for environmental beauty, tranquility and serene atmosphere, but the cruel timber mafia was busy in bringing down the trees. The residents have demanded the authorities take immediate action against the timber mafia.
