Pakistan Navy has initiated court martial proceeding against three serving officers for their alleged negligence in the PNS Mehran terror attack. The officers being court martialled include PNS Mehran Commanding Officer Captain Israr, Naval Aviation Commander Commodore Tahir and PNS Mehran Chief Security Officer Lt Commander Abrar.
The navy has formed a five-member tribunal headed by a commodore to hear the case. The court martial proceedings were recommended by an investigation board that was formed days after the attack on PNS Mehran. “Today was the first day of the hearing,” sources said, added that more officers might be included in the proceedings later.
The sources said the attackers came from the Air Force’s Faisal Base side, complaining that no investigation had been ordered by air force authorities despite the passage of over two months.
