A service member from the NATO-led force in Afghanistan was killed when a man dressed as an Afghan policeman opened fire, the coalition said on Thursday, the latest apparent “rogue” killing by Afghan security forces or insurgent infiltrators.
The shooting in Afghanistan’s east further underlines the problems facing the coalition as they prepare to hand security responsibility over to Afghan forces by the end of 2014. Separately, another member of the NATO force was killed by insurgents in the east on Thursday, the coalition said.
