The wave of violence in Karachi needs a permanent solution because temporary fixes will not yield long-term results, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Wednesday.
“I ask the top leadership of all political parties to sit together and find a permanent solution…Karachi killings cannot be stopped with temporary arrangements,” he said while addressing a press conference at the inauguration of a temporary outlet of Utility Store at the National Press Club.
“Mafias should never be given space because they will end up being the dominant political actors in the future,” he said, adding “If an action is not taken then there could be a complete disaster.” PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain said Shujaat had played an important role in diffusing tensions between the PPP and the MQM. “The Sindh governor returned to his position after resigning from it because of Shujaat’s efforts,” he added.
