Govt’s claims to end power outages at Sehr-o-Iftar prove wrong

The government has completely failed to end load shedding at the Sehr and Iftar timings despite its tall claims.
Worst power outages during Sehri, Iftari and Taraveh timings irked the masses a lot which led to strong protests staged by consumers in Lahore.
Power shortfall reached upto 3,495 mw, which increased load shedding in rural areas from 10 to 16 hours.
The PEPCO spokesman said on Tuesday that the total production of electricity remained 15,002 mw whereas the demand was 18,497 mw and added that the KESC was provided with 790 mega watts of power.
He further said that hydro-power plants were producing 5,933 mw, thermal 1,882 mw, IPPs 7,050 mw and RPs 137 mw.
