Former Law minister Dr Babar Awan on Thursday hinted over making of the Siraiki province, saying demand for the new province could not be suppressed despite concerns of the ‘Lahore Dynasty.’
Talking to journalists inside the Supreme Court, he said that new provinces were a constitutional requisite; hence, the demand for new provinces could not be held as non-sense. “Sharif brothers misconstrued that Potohar and Siraiki are just names of languages,” he said, while stressing the historical importance of the Siraiki and Potohar areas.
He said that the history of Pakistan was associated with Potohar and Siraiki regions. He urged the Punjab government to summarily summon assembly session on requisition submitted by the opposition. It is pertinent to mention that Babar Awan, who often work as legal adviser to the federal government, had said a couple of days ago that the Ramdan would bring a good news for Siraiki people.
It is a good sign that creation of more provinces has become a hot topic. Pakistan needs more provinces just like Iran and Afghanistan that have 31 and 34 provinces respectively. Now that politicians have realised the need for more provinces (NOT the media or intellectuals), it is going to happen. In fact it is now all political. PPP is definitely going to benefit with more provinces. PML (N) will be the biggest loser since their support is concentrated around central and upper Punjab only. Very shrewd strategy by Zardari! He should form an all-party Reform Commission to come up with the number and size of new provinces.
The corrupts may form twenty provinces, the result is more corruption and more devastation. The entire intention og PPP-Z is malafide after it was thrown out by ML-N in Punjab to not divide but disintegrate Punjan and consequently Pakistan.PPPbroke Pakistan into half and God knows how many more halves they aim at-,THE MOST CORRUPT,WICKEDEST,PUTRIFIED ANTI POOR PARTY THEY ARE.THEY HAVE RUINED PAKISTAN IN LAST FORTY FIVE MONTHS AND THE POOR.MAY ALLAH DECIMATE THEM SOONEST TO SAVE PAKISTAN.
It is heartbreaking as a Punjabi to listen to talk of division of Punjab. We should remember that PPP, although a mainstream party, is still inherently a Sindhi party. In future PPP clearly sees that it's not going to win any votes from northern Punjab, so the sole strategy of the party is the division of Punjab. When someone raises similar demands in Sindh, this same PPP is vehemently oppose to division of Sindh, but at the same time has no problem with division of over beloved Punjab. Saraiki, Punjabi, Potohari are all similar languages, with similar vocabulary, and more importantly it is the same people belonging to same castes who speak these languages. Just because few Balochi migrants entered south Punjab, and rule over people, it does not mean that we have to divide Punjab for their sake, so they have the power to do whatever it is they want–as is the case in Sindh. All the Punjabi should remember, come next elections, that PPP is an anti-Punjabi party. Welfare of Punjabi people is the least it cares about, its only aim is the destruction of Punjab.
For thousands of years humans were experiencing the thundering of clouds, and observing the falling of apples; but it was the wisdom of Franklin and Newton which understood the hints of Nature.
PPP has appreciated the public hint and it is selective, but nature never allows man made channels to control its flow for long.Brakeup of Punjab will add to the corruption, nepotism in the newly formed province. It is not going to end with this month of Ramadan, as many more Ramadans are waiting in Sind, KP and Baluchistan for their breakups.
dear Truth Seeker and Nasir Jamshed ! Seraiki and Potohar provinces are demand of the people of those areas who have always been viewed as inferior entities by Central Punjabies. You, Punjabies were settled in Faisalabad and Sahiwal by British imperialism. These two districts were snatched from Seraikies by you. Now Seraikies will not allow you to rule rest of their homeland. That is the reason you are trembling and crying over this news.
The biggest crying need of the hour is to create either a new administrative unit comprising bulk of Karachi as a seperate unit, or give it a special status under federal administrative control.
