Begum Abida Husain in her TV appearance has lashed out at the foreign minister Hina Rabani Khar for being unqualified and a greenhorn in foreign affairs, which Ms Abida Husain thinks is a serious business.
In the same breath, she has also lambasted the assembly members for being agencies’ men. Begum Abida served as Pakistan ambassador in the US during Mian Nawaz Sharif’s period. She too was hardly qualified for the job, with only some kind of a diploma from Switzerland in her repertoire. Maybe it was a diploma in horse breeding because that’s what she has done all her life, and now she taunts Hina Rabbani Khar for holding foreign minister’s slot.
Ms Husain has always rolled over to the party in power. She was Sharif government envoy in US, now she has aligned herself with the PPP where her daughter holds a position. However, Begum Abida can be a democrat at heart as long as she is in a position to reap benefits of democracy.
