Strongly condemning prolonged power load shedding being carried out by the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) even in Ramazan, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh chapter on Tuesday demanded that matters at the KESC be made public.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, PPP Sindh Secretary Information Waqar Mehdi said that previously the KESC management laid the blame of load shedding on its protesting employees, but when the workers have their resumed duties, who is responsible for the power outages now?
“It is now clear that the KESC management is deliberately punishing the citizens and trying to discredit the people’s government. Actually, the KESC is trying to hide its weaknesses under the excuses of reducing gas supply or furnace oil, and sometimes by blaming the employees.”
The PPP-Sindh demands President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Sindh Chief Minister and federal electric and power minister that a high-level investigation be conducted on the internal matters at KESC and all reasons behind the situation be make public.
