Two women were injured when the roof of their house on Multan Road collapsed on Tuesday.
The victims were identified as Fatima, 65, and Nasreen, 28, both residents of Sodiwal. According to rescue officials, the roof of their house collapsed because of rain and all the house residents were buried under the debris. Local residents managed to extract the family from the debris. Rescue 1122 officials reached the spot and rushed the victims to a nearby hospital where their conditions were stated to be stable.
Separately, a woman who was injured in a hit-and-run on Monday succumbed to her injuries at Mayo Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Najma, a resident of Kala Khatai Road. On Monday, she was coming to pray at Data Darbar but when she reached Shahdara Road, a recklessly-driven car crushed her and fled. Rescue 1122 officials shifted her in a critical condition to Mayo Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Also on Tuesday, an unidentified 60-year-old man was crushed by a train in the Misri Shah Police precincts. The deceased was crossing a railway line near Misri Shah when a train hit him killing him on the spot. Police, after being informed, reached the spot and shifted the deceased’s body to city morgue for autopsy. An unidentified 80-year-old man was found dead in the Factory Area Police precincts. The body was found near Kasuri Chowk when local residents spotted it and informed police, which removed the body to the city morgue for autopsy. Police suspect that the deceased was a drug addict and died of an overdose.
