Target killings

Target killings in the capital city of Sindh province, Karachi, tribal clashes and kidnappings for ransom in southern Sindh districts, particularly in Ghotki, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Kashmro have now surged in the province in the wake of the appointment of new Home Minister of Sindh. All new hopes of the people are dashed to the ground.

Regrettably, a serious and systematic abuse of human rights continues in the southern Sindh districts where, both local police and political leadership are reported to be a main source of instigation and criminalisation. All commercial and agricultural activities have come to a halt in the area due to tribal clashes and kidnappings. Schools are reported to be shut there. Instead of arresting the killers and criminals the police kidnap and torture the innocent and innocuous men, raze down their homes so as to extricate money from them. However, the prevalent chaotic situation in Karachi, abrupt surge in the tribal killings and kidnapping for ransom call for a new workable strategy coupled with a political will to bring peace in the province.
