Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday assured Members of Parliaments (MPs) from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) that their recommendations will be included in the Presidential Ordinance on FATA and PATA.
Responding to reservations expressed by Parliamentary leader of FATA in the National Assembly Munir Khan Orakzai, the prime minister said the Ordinance was introduced to deal with extremists, attacking educational institutions and law enforcement agencies’ personnel in FATA and PATA.
“I have invited MPs from FATA to talk to me over the issue. They are the concerned people and it is their right to talk on the issue,” he said, adding that people of FATA had played an important role in creation of Pakistan and the country’s defence. Regarding extension of Political Parties Act in FATA, the prime minister said elders and people of tribal areas will be taken into confidence on the Act and their suggestions will be fully accommodated.
