Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Barrister Masood Kausar on Wednesday appreciated that US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter had sought an end to drone attacks in the country’s tribal areas and described it as “a realisation of ground realities and an endorsement to Pakistan’s persistent position on the issue”.
In a statement issued here, the governor said that US ambassador had realised the concerns of the government and people of Pakistan that were repeatedly conveyed to him by the state officials in almost every meeting.
“The government’s policy is very clear in this regard. We consider it counter-productive in the war against terror because innocent tribesmen have been targeted in a number of such attacks”, the governor observed.
He said the US ambassador’s views deserved appreciation but the US administration must give some weightage to them, the governor added.
