The Safety Investigation Board presented the investigation report of Air Blue Flight ABQ-202 crash to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday and briefed him in detail about the events that led to the unfortunate accident that took place on July 28, 2010.
The PM approved the report to be sent to the States of Manufacture and Design for their comments which is a requirement of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The comments are to be received within a period of 60 days.
The PM was of the view that while waiting for the comments, necessary safety related directives must be issued to all concerned to ensure the safety of lives and equipment.
The PM expressed his concerns on the slow pace of compensation and directed that the process directed the officials to speed up the process.
Defence Minister Ahmad Mukhtar, Defence Secretary Lt Gen (Retd) Athar Ali, Deputy Chief of Air Staff (Operations) Air Marshal Muhammad Hasan, Defence Additional Secretary Major General Raja Arif Nazir and DG CAA Air Marshal (Retd) Khalid Chaudhry were also present on the occasion.
