Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry called for the federal government’s reply on Tuesday to a petition seeking the swift execution of Indian terrorist and spy Sarabjit Singh, who was sentenced to death around 21 years ago on proven charges of carrying out multiple bomb blasts in Lahore and Multan, killing dozens of innocent Pakistanis.
The current petition has been filed by lawyer Ilamuddin Ghazi in the backdrop of the overtures being made to get Singh pardoned by President Asif Ali Zardari. The petitioner mentioned the recent visit of Singh’s sister Dilbeer Kaur, who also met her brother in the Kot Lakhpat Jail.
