Ferrari president Luca Di Montezemolo said on Tuesday he expects more wins from the team throughout the rest of the season. Ferrari’s Spanish two-time world champion Fernando Alonso has picked up more points than any other driver over the last four races, winning one and securing a podium finish in all four. And the Ferrari chief now expects more of the same in the final eight races. “I can see the right spirit in the team after a very difficult start to the season,” he said.
“(Team Principal Stefano) Domenicali and his crew seem very determined, concentrating fully on their tasks for the second part of the year which I am sure will feature Ferrari in the role of a key player. “I expect we will pick up wins to add to the important and historically very significant victory achieved at Silverstone.” Alonso is fourth in the driver standings but 89 points behind runaway leader and defending champion Sebastian Vettel. Felipe Massa, however, is well out of the running in sixth with less than half his team-mate’s points.
