The law enforcing agencies arrested as many as 3,143 terrorists during last three years seizing 4,240 arms and recovering Rs 506,920 from their custody, Interior Minister Rehman Malik informed National Assembly on Wednesday in a written reply.
He said that 231 terrorists were arrested in Punjab, 145 in Sindh, 2,101 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 343 in Balochistan, 130 in Islamabad, 106 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 80 in FATA and five in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The weapons seized included Rocket launchers, AK-47, Kalakoves, SMG, LMGs, Rifles, Pisotls, Stan Gun, Bran Guns, PRGs, Missiles, Silencers, Suicidal Jackets, Bombs, Hand Grenades, Rocket/ Missile Shells, Mines, Bullets Rounds, Magazines, Detonators, Dynamites, Smoke Bombs, Batteries, Explosive Material, Ball Bearings, Prima Cards, Nails, Cyanide, Petroleum Jelly, Glycerin, Bell Switch, Circuit Switch, Fan Condenser, Fuse, Remote Control, Walkie Talkie, Jehadi CDs, Gas Masks, Detonators Wire, Detonator Cord, Explosive wire, Electric wire, motorcycles, narcotics, data netting cord, gun powder, anti air craft gun and anti-air craft gun rounds.
At least 505 people were killed and 1,720 injured in terrorist attacks in Punjab during 2009-10 and 2010-11, he said adding that an amount of Rs 171,760,200 had been paid as compensation to the victims and their families.
