Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Afzal Khan administered oath to six newly-appointed additional judges on Tuesday.
The additional judges include Justice Khalid Mehmood, Justice Fazal Haq Abbasi, Justice Nisar Hussain Khan, Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth, Justice Qaiser Rashid and Justice Malik Azmatullah.
A large number of judges and lawyers were present at the oath-taking ceremony, which was held at the Peshawar High Court building.
Peshawar High Court Bar Association President Khawaja Mohammad Gara and General Secretary Amin Ur Rahman were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the new judges, the PHC chief justice said: “The slot you have been selected for is not a bed of roses. Nor it is a place to relax. It may lend enchantment to the view from a distance but when you are in it, it is a test, a trial, a tribulation you face day in and day out.”
Moreover, he said that it was quite easy to dispense justice between two equally poor or two equally rich men but it was most difficult to decide between a poor and a rich man.
