PML-Q MP accuses govt of tapping phones

In a rare show of concern, Nausheen Saeed, a legislator from the PML-Q, on Monday accused the government of hacking the phones of the PML-Q leaders. She regretted that despite being treasury members, their phones were being hacked by Interior Ministry. Speaking on a point-of-order, Nausheen Saeed said that even the phones of the ministers from her party were not safe from surveillance. This triggered panic among treasury members and Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan and Mehreen Anwar Raja went to Nausheen and tried to pacify her.
Firdous and Mehreen also went to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and told him about the MNA’s concern, who tried to placate her. It may be recalled that another female MNA from Awami National Party (ANP), Bushra Gauhar had also claimed about tapping of her phones during a recent meeting of a standing committee.
