Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry on Monday issued notices to the federal and provincial governments to become party in a pending case against the religious Affairs Ministry and the Haj Department regarding not processing applications of 124 Haj visa applicants.
According to details, 124 citizens had submitted identical applications in the LHC alleging that their visa requests were not being entertained by the Haj directors while applications of 135 other “non-deserving” people had illegally been processed by the Religions Affairs Ministry and the Haj Department directors. The CJ issued notices to the respondents, the ministry and Haj directors, for August 15 after hearing arguments from petitioner counsel who submitted that the Haj directors were not processing applications on merit and favours were being shown to Haj operators of their choice.
