Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the government is fully sincere to implement all the verdicts of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and that the government respects the judiciary and believes in its independence.
She said this while talking to the media here. She said that judiciary was functioning independently in the country and the verdict given by an accountability court in SGS case was an evidence of that fact.
She said that the verdict indicated that the judiciary was working independently in the country. “The verdict has proved the innocence of President Asif Ali Zardari and late Benazir Bhutto in this case”, she added.
She said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had always believed in the dignity of all the state institutions.
“The democracy will never be derailed in this country,” she said adding that some elements were trying to create crises for the elected government but they would fail in their ‘nefarious’ designs.
She said that the PPP leadership believed in democracy and not in political victimisation and that it was trying to resolve all the political issues democratically.
Later addressing a public meeting at village Dina of Sialkot here, she said that the PPP believed in the supremacy of law and strong institutions and that the party had made great sacrifices for that purpose. Addressing public meetings in different areas of NA-111 on Sunday, she said that the people who wanted a clash between institutions would be disappointed.
