Terror, target killings, price hike and loadshedding through the length and breadth of the country have made life of the people of Pakistan hellish nowadays. A vast majority of people have turned to be violent and psychological patients, especially in the province of Sindh due to loadshedding, tribal killings and soaring prices.
As now the holy month of Ramzan is round the corner, so the prices of essential commodities are being increased by the mafias in market. Only the other day, I visited a few shops in the famous Karachi Company and Peshawar More in the Federal Capital, Islamabad, where I could notice that the crafty shopkeepers have alarmingly raised the prices of essential items. They have set the price-rate according to their own will and poor salaried people are being duped by these market players.
It won’t be far off when a 180 million people of Pakistan’s fury may lead to unimaginable consequences. Our rulers and the policy makers must take appropriate steps to keep the prices of daily commodities under constant control. However, there is a dire need to depute Price Control Magistrates while the Deputy Commissioners and Mukhtiarkars/Tehsiladrs may be directed to jump into action so as to prevent a catastrophe.
