LDA, WASA, TEPA get Rs 22.3b budget

The Governing Body of the Lahore Development Authority approved the annual budget of LDA and its subordinate agencies, WASA and TEPA, for the fiscal year 2011-12 on Monday. The collective resources of LDA, WASA and TEPA have been estimated at Rs 20.101 billion against expected expenditures of Rs 22.376 billion including Rs.14.77 billion earmarked for development works.
District Co-ordination Officer and Chairman LDA Ahad Khan Cheema, chaired the budget meeting of LDA which was attended by Vice Chairman LDA Aamir Asgher Dar, Vice Chairman WASA haji Muhammad Sharif, Director General of Lahore Development Authority Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, Managing Director WASA Dr Javed Iqbal, Additional Directors General LDA Hafiz Ihsan Ul Haq and Irfan Bhatti, Chief Engineer TEPA Saif Ur Rahman and representatives of the provincial local government, housing, P&D and finance departments besides administrators of the nine constituent towns of the City District, Lahore.
LDA: Total income of LDA has been estimated at Rs12.602 billion against the expected expenditures of Rs11.633 billion. This amount will also include development expenditure of Rs 9.38 billion.
Lahore Development Authority will spend Rs 666 million for the development of necessary infrastructure in housing schemes for government employees, LDA Avenue-1. It will also spend Rs 500 million for the development of Trade and Finance Centre area in Johar Town, Lahore.
LDA will incur an expenditure of Rs100 million for construction of cricket pavilions at various sites in the city besides undertaking construction of cricket ground at Sabzazar Housing Scheme at a cost of Rs 50 million. An amount of Rs 500 million has been reserved for priority works in the new budget. Construction of pedestrian bridges at six places in the city will cost Rs164 million to LDA during the new fiscal year.
An amount of Rs1.21 billion has been allocated for the improvements of roads under the Lahore Roads Rehabilitation Programme.
Improvement of Main Road Faisal Town will cost Rs110 million where as widening and improvement of Model Town Link Road will be carried out with a sum of Rs113 million.
An amount of Rs 1.2 billion will be spent for construction of three car parking plazas in the city where as a sum of Rs 2 billion have been earmarked for construction of Underpass at Kalma Chowk Garden Town as well as over head bridge at Canal Ferozepur Road.

WASA: WASA is excepting total receipts of Rs 4.21 billion in the financial year 2011-12 while it will spend Rs 7.52 billion including Rs 2.30 billion for development schemes.
New development schemes of WASA include installation of 20 new tube wells in different areas of Lahore which will cost Rs141.28 million. Restoration of original cross section of 40 feet of Satto Katla Drain from Ferozpur Road to PECO Road will cost Rs199 million and project for improvement of Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage of Lahore will be carried out with an expenditure of Rs 125 million.
Among the on-going schemes, sewerage and drainage requirements indifferent town of Lahore will be met with Rs 100 million. Trunk Sewer from Shadi Pura to Salamt Pura will cost Rs 251 million. Replacement of water supply lines will be done at a cost of Rs 245 million.
Construction of waste water treatment plant at Salamt Pur will cost Rs 500 million to WASA in the new budget.

TEPA: TEPA will have a total of Rs 3.28 billion at its disposal whereas its expenditure has been estimated as Rs 3.21 billion including development works costing Rs 3.09 billion.
Construction of alternate route from Defence Road to Butcher Khana distributary will cost Rs 2 million. Construction of structure road from Khayaban-e Jinnah to Valencia Town will cost Rs 188 million. An amount of Rs 147 million has been allocated for remodeling of Canal Bank Road from Dhaarampura under pass to Thokar Niaz Baig.
