Girls outclass boys in Matric results as usual

Girls outclassed boys in the Matriculation Examinations 2011, as they clinched the top three overall positions in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore while the third overall position was shared by a girl and boy.
Larabe Farrukh of the Kips High School for Girls grabbed the first overall position by securing 1,022 marks out of 1,050 while Saman Habib of LDA Model Girls High School got 1,021 marks and stood second. Taimoor Jaffar Ali of the Crescent Model Higher Secondary School and Arfa Tahir of DPS Girls Model Town shared the third position by getting 1,020 marks each. BISE Lahore Chairman Akram Kashmiri announced the names of position holders during a press conference at the Government College for Women, Samanabad. Kashmiri justified the online system and said that since 2007, BISE Lahore had been announcing the Matric result in August.
Students of both public and private-sector schools secured positions but overall private schools took the lead, as topper of the exam was from a private school. Results of Matriculation Exams in all boards of Punjab will be announced today (Tuesday) but positions were announced on Monday. The BISE chairman said that positions were announced one day earlier to end the suspense of the people. Results will be available on the website of BISE Lahore and could also be reached through the gazette available at different places of the city.
A prestigious ceremony to award position holders will be held today at Alhamra Arts Council in which Punjab Education Minster Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman will be the chief guest. Crescentarians Taimoor Jaffar Ali, Faizyab Ali and Muhammad Fareed Khalid of the Punjab School got 1,020, 1,019 and 1,018 marks respectively by securing the top three positions in the science group among boys.
Larabe Farrukh of the Kips High School, Saman Habib of LDA Model High School and Arfa Tahir of DPS High School bagged the top three positions by getting 1,022, 1,021 and 1,020 marks in the science group among girls. Abdul Rehman and Usman Sadiq of the Pakistan Model High School and Muhammad Saif, a private candidate got 946, 938 and 931 marks respectively by securing the top three positions in the humanities group among boys.
Bushra Shafiq of the Punjab School for Girls got the first position by securing 980 marks and Fatima Ashraf of the Farooqi Girls High School got 977 marks and stood second. Rabia Shehzad of the Farooqi Girls High School and Sumaira Zia of the AV Girls High School, Ittefaq Colony shared the third position by getting 975 marks each in the humanities group among boys.
Earlier, Kashmiri briefed journalists about the online system saying that it was the first time that all objective papers were checked by scanners, which has transformed the system of all boards. He said that now, chances of mistakes in checking of papers were minimum, and if any student wanted to recheck papers, they would help him.
