Firecrackers cause minor blast

A person received minor injuries when firecrackers buried at the edge of the Murree Road near Bara Kahu detonated on Monday. A police official told Pakistan Today that the firecrackers were buried near the curb-stone. As the blast occurred, vehicles passing by on collided with each other and bedlam ensued. The sound of the blast was also heard far away, informed the official.
The official also said that law enforcement agencies reached the area immediately and cordoned it off. The bomb disposal squad conducted a search of the area and confirmed the cause.
An ambulance also rushed to the site as two injured people were spotted.
Inspector General Police (IGP) Bani Amin said on the occasion said that the cause of the blast was almost surely firecrackers. “The bomb disposal squad has collected some material from the blast site and is investigating”, he further added.
