CID makes plenty of arrests

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Karachi police said on Sunday that it has arrested seven men suspected of involvement in targeted killings in the city.
Speaking at a press conference, CID SSP Chaudhry Aslam Khan said that the police arrested four militants of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan from Sohrab Goth, namely Abdul Rehman, Nazrab Khan, Azhar Mahmood and Ahmed Khan. “The arrested men are also extortionists and they collected millions of rupees from the business community and sent the money to their commander in Waziristan, Abdul Wali alias Omer Khalid,” the SSP said.
“The arrested men were trained in Waziristan camps and killed people in the city on the instructions of Omer Khalid,” he added. The police official said that the militants have confessed to killing several people for not paying extortion money and further investigations are being conducted. The police also recovered weapons and explosives from the possession of the arrested men.
In another raid, the CID arrested a notorious terrorist of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), Waseem Channa, who is allegedly involved in sectarian killings. The police conducted a raid in the area of Jamshad Quarters and arrested Waseem and recovered weapons from his possession. According to the CID SSP, the arrested man is suspected of involvement in the killings of Shia doctors.
 The CID also conducted a raid near the Mauripur Road and arrested two Lyari gangsters, Babar and Maqsood. Babar is a member of the Razzaq Commando group of Lyari. He was wanted by the police in different murder, extortion and street crime cases. Maqsood is suspected to be involved in more than dozen robberies at factories in Shershah.
