WAPDA clinch Women’s Volleyball title

WAPDA reclaimed the National Women’s Volleyball Championship title after beating spirited Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the final by 25-20, 25-21 and 25-12 here on Friday at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. In the final encounter WAPDA having best average height in the championship, which starts their campaign with rhythm and coordination in the first set of the match. Their spiking average with successful blocking did not allow the HEC to take lead through out the game and won the first set at the score of 25-20.
In the second set WAPDA’s spikers grabbed some quick points to take advantage and won the set by 25-21. In the third set WAPDA dominated the proceeding all the time. WAPDA spikers Bismah Idrees, Maleeha Latif and Nazia were too strong by power spiking, collative blocking and counter attack to won the third set by 25-12 and beat HEC in straight sets. In a classification match, Islamabad had to content with Punjab for third place and they defeated Punjab in straight sets. Islamabad Volleyball Association chief patron Chaudhry Aslam Jameel was the chief guest of the ceremony while Pakistan Volleyball Federation secretary Major (R) Muhammad Afzal, tournament organising secretary Najma Anwar and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
