Punjab health secretary wants early completion of development schemes

Punjab Health Secretary Jahanzeb Khan directed officers of the Punjab Health Department to play a proactive role in early completion of ongoing development schemes.
He was chairing a meeting to evaluate the performance of district headquarters hospital (DHQ), tehsil headquarters hospitals (THQ), rural health centres and basic health units of Sialkot. EDO Health Dr Talat Hussain briefed the meeting about performance of hospitals and pace of work on development schemes.
The secretary expressed satisfaction on the overall performance of hospitals and urged officers to maintain this spirit and work hard with a dedication for further betterment. The meeting was informed that the Rural Health Centre, Sambrial has been upgraded to status of a THQ Hospital while Rs 49.612 million have been spent on that project and the hospital is functional.
Construction of wards of the Civil Hospital Daska has also been completed at a cost of Rs 130.492 million but installation of some medical equipment is yet to be made. The EDO health disclosed that Rs 18 million have been released by the Punjab government for establishment of ICU at the Government Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital, Sialkot. RHC Kotli Lodhran is also being upgraded to a 40-bed THQ Hospital while development work is under way and it would be completed at a cost of Rs 58.899 million.
Jahanzeb directed officers to personally supervise the construction work and ensure quality of material to be used in the construction. He said that patients and their attendants should be treated as guests and courteous attitude must be adopted for them. The secretary said that zero tolerance policy be adopted in matters of cleanliness and decent behaviour of doctors with patients at hospitals.

  1. It is good to know about zero-tolerance policy of Govt about doctors. it should be adopted in matters of cleanliness and decent behaviour of doctors as early as possible.
