Free polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test facility, suspended for financial reasons, has now resumed at the Jinnah Hospital, Lahore.
According to a spokesman of the hospital, Allama Iqbal Medical College/JH Principal Professor Javed Akram directed Prof Nosheen Wasim Yousaf to make the facility available to poor patients at any cost. A meeting of the JH Patient Welfare Association (PWA) was held in this regard under the chairmanship of Mian Mehboob Iqbal. Prof Javed Akram briefed the audience about the financial constraints and requested the PWA members to donate and help the hospital in providing free PCR test facility to the poor. They also requested for public donations so that the reactivated PCR test facility could be continued. The PWA, on the occasion, announced a handsome grant for the purpose. JH Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Afzal Shaheen was also present.
