Pakistan has imposed restrictions on the movement of US diplomats, according to which they are required to get prior approval for visiting cities other than those where they are based, reported a private TV channel. Quoting sources, the TV channel say the restrictions are in place for some time now.
The US diplomats, including senior ones, have been directed to inform and get no-objection certificate from the relevant authorities. On the other hand, as the relation between the two partners in the war on terror are deteriorating after the Raymond Davis episode and Abbottabad operation, Washington has warned Islamabad of tit-for-tat action and it is believed it can opt for similar limitations for Pakistani diplomatic staff stationed in United States.
It is pertinent to note that the US has already limited the movement of diplomatic missions of Cuba, North Korea, Syria, Iran and Russia. The move came under the Geneva Convention, which sets the rules and regulations for diplomatic missions and staff members.
