The two deceased were Allahditta, 27, and Safdar, 24, residents of Lal Pull area. According to details, both brothers were going for some work in Gulberg area on their motorcycle. As they reached near the Siddique Trade Centre on Main Boulevard Gulberg, a speeding Honda City bearing registration number LEC-4264 approached them from behind and knocked both of them down. Both brothers were critically injured and Safdar died on the spot. Some local residents gathered at the spot and informed Rescue 1122 officials, who after reaching the spot, shifted Allahditta to Services Hospital where he was in a critical condition but died afterwards.
Police registered a case against Zohra Aziz, a resident of 554-Y Block DHA. Police arrested Zohra and presented her before a duty magistrate at Model Town courts. The court granted bail to Zohra, as her lawyer Tabinda Islam proved that she had committed a bail able crime. Tabinda also told the court that Zohra will pay a certain amount as blood money.
To a surprise, Zohra after getting bail, started playing hide and seek with the family of Safdar and Allahditta. She despite promising started avoiding fulfilling her promise for paying around Rs 1.5 million as blood money. The family of the brothers was totally dependent on earnings of the two young men who were running a shop at Azam Cloth Market. The deceased’s father Muhammad Hussain was a retired employee of Railways and now getting Rs 6,000 as pension. The old man has five daughters out of whom four are still waiting for their marriages.
The married daughter of Muhammad Hussain has also returned to her parent’s home along with her son after the death of her husband a couple of months ago and now she was also dependent on her father. Hussain said that his sons were the main source of income for their family. He said that they had taken a heavy loan for starting their shop at the Azam Cloth Market, which people had started demanding right after their death.
“I have some health issues and not fit to go out to run a business. I don’t know how I will feed my five daughters and gather money for their marriages”, Hussain said. Safia Bibi, mother of Safdar and Allahdita, while crying, failed to say anything and just requested the authorities to help them.
Nusrat, sister of deceased Safdar and Allahditta said that no one could feel their pain. “We have lost everything and the incident was just a mere accident for the world”, she said. Local residents, including Awais, Munawar and Saleem, sympathised with the family and said that the driver got bail and did not fulfill her promise until now.
