So the prime minister’s family is coming back from the UK. They want business class seats. Problem: they hadn’t booked any.
Well, what the Gilanis want is what they get. The airline officials requested the passengers in business class to trade their seats for the cattle class and get £500 in exchange. Now some did. But some of the ones who were in business class showed a bit of the flair that had made them to be the sort that gets to travel business class in the first place: they wanted to negotiate the price. A mere 500 didn’t cut it. And after a haggle, they got what they wanted.
Also seen at the airport in Pakistan were the items upon items that belonged to the first family (first items?) at checkout that were getting their VAT reimbursements.

How many Chaudhrys does it take to change a lightbulb? No idea. But three, to make an election interesting in Gujrat.
Apparently, Chaudhry Ahmed Saeed, brother of PPP stalwart Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, is set to be given a PML(N) ticket for the next elections. Not going to go well with his estranged brother.
What makes things more interesting is Chaudhry Shujaat’s presence. He, of course, is an old foe of the brothers (Saeed used to be a PPP supporter) and it remains to be seen what arrangement he will have with Mukhtar in this election in the aftermath of the PPP-Q deal.

Now that Pakistani authorities are being stricter with even European diplomats (the latter have to seek permission before moving to another city), some within the European foreign services are considering having a reciprocal arrangement for Pakistani diplomats. Nothing like a tit-for-tat.
Expect to see His Excellency Wajid Shamsul Hassan seeking permission to go to Bradford sometime in the near future.
