Special teams formed to catch carjackers

Special police teams have been constituted to work in four zones of the city to curb car theft and take action against carjackers. The decision to constitute special teams was made in a meeting held on Thursday. The meeting was presided by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan.
The IGP directed officials to coordinate with these special teams in obtaining record of car thieves and raiding their hideouts. SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan informed the meeting that policemen of anti-car lifting cell had been deployed at pickets to assist the district police. IGP directed the police officials to evaluate the crime trends and then adopt an effective strategy for their elimination.
He also reviewed car-lifting cases in the district and issued directions to the participants of the meeting to deploy policemen in plain clothes at various areas prone to car-lifting in order to arrest the carjackers. Bani Amin also asked to conduct search operation before the advent of Ramadan and remain in complete coordination to ensure security arrangements.
