Promotion of commercial activities is of supreme importance for economic stability in the country and the federal government has adopted a comprehensive economic policy, Punjab Governor Latif Khosa said on Thursday.
He was talking to Gujranwala traders who called on him at the Governor’s House. Khosa said that traders were playing a vital role in the development and progress of the country adding that the federal government attached top priority to facilitate businessmen and resolve their problems.
He said that the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) manifesto focuses on the empowerment of the masses and former PM and PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto gave their lives only for the rights of the people. “The PPP is the only political party whose leadership has set a golden example of service and sacrifice by laying down their lives for the cause of democracy in the country,” Khosa said.
The governor said that the PPP believed in complete adherence to the constitution and law and intended to run the affairs of the country according to the constitution.
“The PPP has introduced a new culture of politics of reconciliation and desires consensus among all political stakeholders over major national issues”, he said. The governor said that continuation of democracy was the only solution to all ills being faced by the country adding that President Asif Ali Zardari had steered the country out of crises through wise policies and even his adversaries acknowledged his political insight.
Khosa said that resolving problems faced by the people of Punjab was his first priority adding that doors of the Governor’s House were always open for the masses as well as traders. The traders apprised the governor of the problems being faced by the business community.
