Intelligence agencies have warned Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif about a conspiracy to assassinate him, a private TV channel reported on Thursday. According to the reports, a letter had been sent to inform the Punjab government of the conspiracy and urged tightening the chief minister’s security.
The letter was forwarded to the chief minister, chief secretary and the IGP, urging a foolproof security protocol for Shahbaz. The mastermind of the attack is said to be Babar Butt, a resident of the Shalimar area of Lahore. According to the report, Butt has prepared five men to execute the plan. In accordance with the plan, Butt was scheduled to first reach Dubai and then proceed to London.
However, Butt said he was in Lahore and the agencies had cleared him of the charges after investigation.
