The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ordered the Lahore capital city police officer (CCPO) to conduct an inquiry against the station house officer (SHO) and sub-inspector (SI) of the Raiwind Police Station for submitting a fake report in court on a petition seeking recovery of 17 kiln workers.
Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan, issuing the order, also directed the CCPO to constitute a new police raiding team to recover the workers and submit report to the LHC deputy registrar (Judicial) at the earliest. The court was hearing a petition filed by Zubaida Bibi submitting that owner of a kiln Bashir Gujjar had detained her 17 family members, including six women, but police were not taking any action against him.
The court had earlier ordered police to take action but on Thursday, SI Gulzar Ahmed submitted a report stating that no one was kept in illegal detention at the kiln. The petitioner challenged the report and alleged that it was bogus, as she herself had seen her family at the kiln. After hearing arguments, the case’s hearing was adjourned until August 5.
