The Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) director general, Military Intelligence director general and the superintendent of police (SP), Saddar Circle Islamabad, will submit their replies to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday (today) in three separate petitions seeking release of three missing persons.
A single bench of IHC comprising Chief Justice (IHC) Iqbal Hameedur Rehman will resume the hearing of the cases. During the last hearing, the chief justice had issued notice to the DG ISI, DG MI and the SP Saddar Circle for submitting their replies. During the previous hearings, Umar Hayat Sindh, the counsel for missing activists from Hizb-ut-Tahrir, contended that his clients were illegally picked up by officials from intelligence agencies.
On July 15, 2011, relatives of two Hizb activists had filed two separate petitions in IHC, seeking release of Hayan Dawar and Imran Yousufzai from the custody of law enforcement agencies. Later, another petition was filed by Muhammad Hanif last Saturday in which he contended that his son Osama Hanif was picked up by agencies on July 21 from Karachi Company Islamabad.
In all three petitions, the petitioners made ISI, MI, and SP Saddar Circle Islamabad respondents. On Monday, after hearing arguments, the IHC had issued notice to respondents and had directed Deputy Attorney General (DAG) of IHC Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri to get their reply.
