Butt’s visit to Lord’s futile?

The visit of the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Ijaz Butt to the famous Lord’s cricket ground for the 2000th Test match last week has apparently produced no results as far as discussions between the PCB and the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the report of the Pakistan Task Team (PTT) is concerned. Reports from the PCB said that Butt didn’t have any worthwhile discussions with ICC officials or members of the Task team in London.
“The current situation is that there has been no major move forward over the Task Team report and the PCB is now just waiting for the ICC to respond to its observations that it sent earlier this month on the Task Team recommendations and suggestions,” one source said. The PCB had raised some serious questions over the Task Team report mainly noting that the report was compiled without any Task Team member ever visiting Pakistan.
The PCB also dismissed many of the recommendations made by the Task Team in its report. There were expectations that Butt during his visit would get a chance to meet with the ICC officials and discuss a visit by some Task Team members including ICC chief
executive Haroon Lorgat to Pakistan.
