American Idol winner Lee DeWyze is engaged to his girlfriend Jonna Walsh. After a whirlwind eight month romance, the 25-year-old singer got down on bended knee at Disney World in Florida, proposing to the model/actress. The 2010 winner of the reality contest confirmed the happy news to reporters on Friday.
DeWyze went all out for the romantic July 16 proposal, chartering a private yacht for his 26-year-old lady love. The couple plan to wed in the fall of 2012. The happy couple met whilst shooting a video for his single ‘Sweet Serendipity’. “We were casting and I saw her and said, ‘Let’s go with her.’ I thought she was cute. We hung out and we went to a Lakers game on our first date. She’s a Lakers fan and I’m a Chicago Bulls fan and we just clicked out of the gate. We do all kinds of stuff together.
We go to plays and exhibits and Joanna is really into the planning for the wedding,” an excited DeWyze told. DeWyze was helped by his fiancée’s sister to select his bride-to-be’s engagement ring. Following his ‘American Idol’ win last year, he received a recording contract and is now signed to 19 Recordings.
