Around 16 million unregistered mobile SIMS have been blocked in the country, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Dr Yaseen said on Thursday.
Addressing media at the Parliament House, Dr Yaseen said terrorism and crime has dropped significantly, while obnoxious calls have also reduced by 30 percent by blocking unregistered SIMS. He told reporters that telecom companies owe Rs 38 billion to the government for which a case is pending in the courts. “The total number of cellular consumers has reached 110 million,” he said.
