The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has forwarded the initial report regarding the tragic plane crash of July 28, 2010 to the federal government, a spokesman for the authority said on Thursday.
The CAA spokesman said that all aspects including internal and external sabotage, incapacitation of the aircraft systems, flight fire, bird strike or structural fatigue, human factor, organisational factors and others were adequately analysed in the investigation.
However, the report does not state reasons behind the crash, nor does it hold anyone responsible. The interim report stated that the investigation report has been completed and sent to the federal government. The report will be released when comments from companies which manufactured and designed the place were received.
The Air Blue plane crash was the worst aviation disaster in the history of Pakistan. All 152 passengers and crew on board were killed when the flight 202 crashed into the Margalla Hills in Islamabad. The plane lost contact with the control tower shortly before the crash which occurred amid thick fog and heavy rainfall in Islamabad. The plane caught fire after the crash which severely hindered relief efforts. It was reported that the pilot was instructed to perform a go around due to traffic on runway, however due to severe weather in the city; very low visibility caused the crash.
It has been one year since the tragic crash and yet the reason behind it is not known. The families of the victims are still seeking answers and the death of their loved ones still remains a mystery.
