CCPO endorses ban on processions at The Mall

Judicial decision of imposing a complete ban on rallies and processions at the Mall Road would be ensured so that the business community may continue its commercial activities peacefully and the flow of city traffic remains uninterrupted, said Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir on Wednesday.
He was addressing a 10-member delegation of the Mall Road Traders Association at his office. The CCPO said priority based security had been provided to business centers and markets of the city against criminal elements.
He said a strong teamwork with close cooperation between trading community, citizens and media was needed to improve the security situation. He said the business community must work in close liaison with police to boost national economy, besides propagating foreign investment in the country. He informed the business community that the officers and Jawans of Lahore Police had been directed to bring about a positive change in the Thana culture, and be sympathetic and sincere to the citizens.
The Mall Road Traders Association members assured their cooperation to the CCPO.
DIG Operations Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, CTO Captain Ahmad Mobeen, SP Civil Lines Umer Saeed, Mall Road Traders’ Association Chairman Sohail Mehmood Butt, General Secretary Raja Hamid Riaz and others were present.
In another order, the CCPO said practical steps would be taken to eliminate the scourge of narcotics from the city within three years. He directed the Lahore Police to launch a crackdown and take strict legal steps against drug peddlers to make Lahore drug-free.
He said early eradication of drug dens in the city must be ensured, otherwise officers concerned would also be proceeded against according to the law.
The CCPO said the list of top 100 drug peddlers has been prepared and sent to all police stations and specials teams have been formed to launch the crackdown against these dealers.
Separately, Inspector General of Punjab Police Javed Iqbal has issued transfer/posting orders of three police officers on Wednesday.
According to notifications, Farkhanda Iqbal, SSP RIB Multan Region has been transferred and posted as Commandar Guard Battalion 7 Punjab Constabulary SSP, Lahore and Punjab Police Headquarters Lahore Deputy Director-I (R&D) Shahida Nasreen has been transferred and posted as Legal SSP, Lahore against existing vacancies.
Similarly, Faisal Ali Raja, awaiting posting, has been transferred and posted as Punjab Police Headquarters Lahore Deputy Director (R&D) with immediate effect.
