“I am not Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who forgave the murderers of his mother. I am disclosing the secret that the plane was hijacked by some armed people who entered the cockpit before the crash,” said Waris Lodhi, son of Shireen Lodhi – one of the 150 people who died in the Airblue crash at Islamabad’s Margalla Hills last year.
“Why is the government reluctant to disclose the investigation report on the crash,” he questioned.
Waris was among those attending the memorial organised by PILDAT to commemorate first anniversary of that fateful event. Relatives of the Youth Parliament members, who died in the crash, claimed that they are not ready to accept any “national interest” because which the report on the crash is not being made public. “If there is no conspiracy than why keep the report a secret?.”
Six members of Youth Parliament Pakistan had lost their lives alongside other passengers the crash.
The parents, families and friends of the six Youth Parliament members were joined by alumni from three batches of the Youth Parliament.
Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, the executive director of PILDAT, said it is very unfortunate that the inquiry report of the incident, prepared by the Civilian Aviation Authority, was presented to the government but has not been made public. He demanded that the government should share the report publicly, not only for victims’ families, but also to avoid such accidents in the future.
