A government spokesman on Tuesday clarified that former Establishment Division secretary had exceeded his powers when he issued a notification to the effect of transfer of Gilgit-Baltistan Inspector General (IG) Hussain Asghar. He said on the violation of the laid down rules and regulations, the competent authority made the secretary officer on special duty (OSD). The spokesman said the Establishment Division had moved a summary to the competent authority for transfer of the Gilgit-Baltistan IG.
The summary was under consideration and the opinion of the Ministry of Law and Justice was solicited. In the meantime, the former Establishment Division secretary himself issued the notification of Asghar’s transfer. The spokesman said to appoint and transfer IGs and chief secretaries, consultation between the chief executive of concerned province or region and the federal administrative head was essential.
