Pakistan People’s party (PPP) parliamentarians from Punjab Assembly have asked Prime Minister Yusaf Raza Gillani to provide development funds to them from federal government resources, since the provincial government was not providing them any and they were facing problems in their constituencies. Party sources told Pakistan Today that, in the meeting held at the governor’s house, some members also tendered a proposal to the PM to spare some funds for them (PPP Punjab MPAs) from the account of PPP MNAs of other three provinces, Sindh, Khybur Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. They said that PPP’s legislators informed the PM of the moves by other parties in the assembly. Arrangements of “Haqooq-e-Mandi Bahaudin Convention,” to be held on July 30, also come under discussion, sources said, while the meeting continued late into the night. The PM was chairing the PPP Punjab parliamentary party meeting formally for the first time after its separation from PML-N provincial coalition government. Besides the PM, federal ministers including Rehman Malik, Khurshid Shah, Babar Awan, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Naveed Qamar, Punjab opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz and party’s parliamentary leader in the house Major (Retd) Zulfiqar Gondal were also present in the meeting, sources informed.
