The grand alliance formed by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) took courage, said Religious Affairs Minister Khursheed Shah on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters at the Allama Iqbal Airport, Shah said political alliances were not formed by launching a volley of accusations against political parties. He said the PPP was treading the path of reconciliation and would continue the reconciliation policy. The resignations of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) members were not accepted as the tussles among politicians benefit none but those wishing to harm the country.
The minister said the arms in Karachi were ‘favoured’ by Ziaul Haq, adding that the government was negotiating with all parties concerned to restore peace in Karachi. Shah said if dialogue with the MQM turned out successful, the security situation might soon improve. To a question, the minister said Nawaz Sharif had the right to make a grand alliance but he had no right to blame any party including the Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf (PTI).
To another question regarding pilgrims, the minister said letters to Hajj pilgrims would be sent by August, adding that the pilgrims would travel by mono-train from Mina to Arafat in Saudi Arabia.
