Azad Jammu and Kashmir Pakistan Peoples Party President Ch Abdul Majeed was elected as the AJK prime minister by securing 35 votes in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. As many as 46 members of the state legislature participated cast their vote for the slot in an alphabetical order. Raja Farooq Haider of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) obtained 11 votes in the poll. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani congratulated Ch Majeed on his election. In a message, Gilani hoped that the AJK premier would work selflessly for the people regardless of the political affiliations. He urged Majeed to follow the policy of reconciliation and take all
political parties on board on matters of public importance.
