The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea by the federation seeking extension in the timeframe for the appointment of the National Accountability Bureau chairman, observing that it had not sought a review of its relevant verdict of June 21 regarding the issue.
Rejecting the plea, a two-member bench of Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa observed that its order of June 21 for appointing the NAB chairman within a month was still operational.
The bench noted that applicant’s response to court directives was casual and non-serious, adding that the federation sought a review of its judgement on a case pertaining to the appointment of Justice (r) Deedar Hussain Shah as the NAB chairman on pleas moved by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, opposition leader in the National Assembly, and Shahid Orakzai, a freelance journalist.

  1. Supreme Court's behaviour is strange. Review petition regarding judgement about Justice (R) Deedar Hussain Shah is still pending. Now, if a new NAB Chairman is appointed and subsequently above mentioned Review petition is accepted, what will happen to the new Chairman. Are we going to see two NAB Chairmen?
